Sometime in your rare spare time, Google the words “I am blessed”. It is interesting to see that people often use these words when going through foreclosure, divorce, illness, job loss, or even imprisonment. Yet, I recall a man honored as ABC News Person of the Week several years ago. His name escapes me today, but, what I recall was that his friends fondly remembered his response to the everyday question “How are you doing”. It was always “I am blessed”. It did not take tragedy for him to realize his blessings.
On October 14, legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden celebrated his 99th birthday. Coach Wooden has blessed us with many quotes. Two that come to mind are
"Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but what you should have accomplished with your ability."
"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."
