January 2010 Newsletter Minimize
Sometime in your rare spare time, Google the words “I am blessed”. It is interesting to see that people often use these words when going through foreclosure, divorce, illness, job loss, or even imprisonment. Yet, I recall a man honored as ABC News Person of the Week several years ago. His name escapes me today, but, what I recall was that his friends fondly remembered his response to the everyday question “How are you doing”. It was always “I am blessed”. It did not take tragedy for him to realize his blessings.

On October 14, legendary UCLA basketball coach John Wooden celebrated his 99th birthday. Coach Wooden has blessed us with many quotes. Two that come to mind are

"Don't measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but what you should have accomplished with your ability."

"You can't live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you."

No matter what your circumstance, the fact that you are reading this newsletter indicates that you are blessed. Share your blessings. Opportunities abound, but, will not seek you out. Whether it is in project management, community, school, church, cancer/medical awareness, or whatever your calling…share your blessings. You will be amazed the additional blessings that will come back to you.

Happy and Blessed New Year,
Wayne

A Message from Denise Thompson Minimize
by Denise Thompson, PMP, VP of Marketing

When I stepped up to take on the role of VP of Marketing for our chapter this summer, I had no idea how exciting this role would be for me. As you may already realize if you’ve had the opportunity to attend one of our chapter meetings, our chapter has a vault of talent, experience, and community support just waiting to be opened.

In the past few months, your chapter board has worked hard to research and identify programs that would offer value to our membership while strengthening our chapter. This strategy is designed to deliver what members want and need from our chapter now while creating a strong foundation of growth and development that will add professional value for every chapter member well into the future. We have also designed these programs with the greater community in mind. Partnership and Sponsorship programs allow us the means to work with other organizations to strengthen local business and professional development.

It is truly an honor to represent our chapter as the VP of Marketing. Throughout this year I will continue to work to identify new opportunities for chapter growth and development as we move forward to build a strong tomorrow for our chapter today. If you have ideas, insights or would just like to chat about chapter marketing development please email me at vpmarketing@lacrossepmi.org. Have a great 2010!
